His chocolate is melt-in-your-mouth gold, his boyish charm irresistible, his creations a work of art. (By Sandra Iskander)
Found a few steps away from Le Bon Marché, Jean-Charles Rochoux's chocolate shop is petite in size but busting with chocolate to suit every chocoholic taste bud.
Know for his sculpted chocolate sculptures, you will be forgiven for tossing between not wanting to take a bite of the chocolate in fear of ruining the pièce de résistance and wanting to dig right into one with a childish pleasure of having it all to yourself.
Carefully selecting the ingredients and cooking the chocolate the old fashion way, in copper pots, he uses everything as a possible inspiration , from a choc croc to a man's perfectly sculpted six-pack.
And being a further tease, every Saturday he makes fresh chocolate blocks with fresh fruit, making a limited amount to be consumed immediately, the early bird here certainly winning and chocoholic, he tries to capture the pleasure he used to experience as a child when he would spend his pocket money including his creating a new flavour-filled chocolate, including his classic praline and caramel mousse-filled chocolates.
Calling himself a vendor of happiness, he understand the certain pleasure achieved and derived from taking that first bite if good chocolate.
